Happy First Birthday Baby Mogg!

24 Jun

Cameron Archer (Baby) Mogg Happy First Birthday! The backyard bbq was amazing we enjoyed everyone who came out to the party and all those best wishes are much appreciated from those who couldn’t make it. More pictures to post later… On a high note we were released from the Cardiac Surgeon and no longer have to go for those X-rays checking for pleural effusions except with our regular Cardiologist. We are going to him monthly now but it may change to every 3 months or 6 months if we continue to do well and we should. Hopefully all is quite until he is around 3 years old or 30 or more pounds when his 3rd and final HLHS surgery will take place. Also, Cam is allowed a regular diet!!! We tried a real smash cake for his first birthday but there was unfortunately no bite maybe next year huh. We cannot express the gratitude we have for everyone’s support including all the Doctors, Nurses and staff at Chnola for giving us this wonderful day to celebrate such a beautiful baby boy THANK YOU!!!

Almost there… 12 months!

16 Jun

Cameron has been a busy bee seeing the full line of doctors this month and turning the big ONE June 23rd! Cam is just amazing, growing so well, and doing great! He is crawling around FAST, pulling up, and trying to scale furniture so we are sure it won’t be long until he’s out the gate and running around lol! We are planning his race car theme birthday party this month it’s so exciting getting ready for the fun!!!

We saw the pediatrician who gave him another vaccination, ouch and we are now doing them every two weeks instead of once a month. She suggested giving him a multi vitamin for growth. Liquid form once a day at 1ml, it tastes real strong like those Flintstones vitamins. Also, we have him on a low dose of Miralax for his continued tummy trouble. It’s still hard for him on the full gentlease formula maybe because he was on the watery Tolerex for so long (24 weeks). We may not see the regular milk until 18 months or later. She also noticed his top teeth are close to coming in soon which could be so painful keeping him up at night ugh poor man.

The pediatric cardiologist gave him an Echo and EKG which he said was fine. He changed the medication schedule and doses lowering the lasix and sildenafil which helps out tremendously with getting him on a better sleep schedule omg thank goodness. The cardiac surgeon checked his chest X-ray for the pleural effusions which looked clear/beautiful, and sent us on our way. They will call me next week about updating his feeding details as I asked again about allowing fats. Yes I mentioned the smash cake we have to have for his 1st birthday seeing if it was ok and if not Mandy Pembo is doing research on how to accomplish a low fat smash cake just for him @ maymayscakes.vpweb.com. He’s still getting only zero total fat foods like fruits and veggies. I found some chicken dinner jar food from beechnut that is zero total fat so he can explore a meat flavor yum yum. With the change in formula and meds he started sleeping through the night like a sweet man, but the teething issue is sporadic and alarming in the middle of the night.

We did request an evaluation with the early steps program to see how Cam is doing with his skills and milestones due to his surgeries and special condition. They will call us next week with the results which we will post. They asked a long list of questions like does he do this or do that etc most of which I really didn’t consider until they brought it up. They used a few simple toys like bells, nesting cups, touch and feel books during the interview and he did good, I think anyway. I still think Cam is doing amazing no matter what they conclude; but I don’t know how to look for certain developmental things he may be lacking, and I’d rather get him the help he needs now.

On a fun note we just love his adorable innocent baby laughter and would do just about anything to catch it… man he’s so cute and just lights up with joy! Cam was introduced to foam soap at bath time so much messy fun. The big birthday is coming soon I’m not ready at all but thrilled to celebrate. Just cannot believe its going to be a full year… we will be sure to post some great pics!
